Thanks to EventChaser (subsidary of Razor Gator), I was able to attend a Colorado Rapids soccer game on June 20th. My husband was so excited to see the Rapids, but he ended up having to work. He was really bummed, because he’s a HUGE soccer fan. He played soccer all through high school and wanted to go pro, but there were only pro teams overseas.

Anyway, my husband’s mother-in-law was more than happy to go to the Rapids soccer game with me. As you can see from the picture, our seats were very close to the field. We were in the third row and I could see every play.

Omar Cummings scored the first point for the game against DC United. Right before the half time, Omar scored another point. The Colorado Rapids ended up winning the game with a score of 3-0 with Colin Clark kicking the last goal.

It was a fun night with the Colorado Rapids and I can’t wait to go to another game with my husband. He has never seen the new stadium, Dick’s Sporting Goods Park. We saw the Rapids when they played at Invesco Field and the experience was much different for me. I couldn’t see anything that was happening at Invesco and really enjoyed watching the soccer game at their new field, which I wrote a review about Dick’s Sporting Goods Park that can be read at Event Chaser.

My life as a freelance writer I am always on the prowl for more work and more work. I came across this opportunity to get free tickets to events in exchange for a blog review of Coors Field and the game, which can be read on the EventChaser website. When I was offered this I thought this is a great way to get  Colorado Rockies tickets for FREE and it gave me an excuse to get out and have some FUN!!

The enthusiasm and cheering fans are why I like going to Rockies games. This “happiness” rubs off and makes me cheery and puts me in a good mood as I watch the Rockies even if they are losing. I have always enjoyed going to watch the Rockies play, but I didn’t really know who the players were. In 2007, my enthusiasm for the Rockies moved to a whole new level. My interest in baseball went from just an occasional past time to an excitement where I couldn’t wait for the new season to begin.

As I watched the Rockies play in the Championship playoffs and the World Series, I became very familiar with Matt Holliday, Todd Helton, Brad Hawpe, Manny Corpas, Matt Herges, Yorvit Torrealba, Garrett Atkins, Kazuo Matsui and Ryan Spilborghs. The synergy between the Rockies was apparent throughout the playoffs. However, the synergy was lost once they started the World Series. The Rockies seemed nervous then as each game was lost, they seemed to lose confidence.

In 2008, Matsui went to play with the Houston Astros. Many Rockies fans wondered why the owners didn’t do everything to keep the team together and try to make it back to the World Series. I think losing Matsui affected the psyche of some of the Rockies players. The synergy wasn’t there and for the first time ever I attended a Rockies’ game where they lost.

November 2008, I couldn’t believe the email update I received that stated Matt Holliday was traded to the Oakland Athletics for pitchers Huston Street and Greg Smith and outfielder Carlos Gonzalez. This trade was very sad news and I didn’t understand why the Rockies traded their star, who was believed to become a Rockies franchise player.

On Friday, April 24th, this was the first Rockies game I attended for the 2009 season without Matt Holliday. Sitting down by the first baseline seven rows up, it was so awesome to be this close. Despite being extremely tired, I was psyched and alert to watch the Rockies.  I had an extreme amount of fun sipping a microbrew, eating peanuts, and watching my favorite team play. As I watched the Rockies, I did miss seeing Matt Holliday (#5 Rockies centerfielder traded to the Oakland Athletics) and Kazuo Matsui (#7 Rockies second baseman, who was offered a sweet deal from the Houston Astros in 2008).

Despite missing my favorite players, there were some exciting plays during the game. Cook struck out Manny Ramirez. Ryan Spilborghs socked the ball almost out of the ballpark, but it landed far in centerfield pushing the Rockies into the lead. Clint Barmes hit the ball out of the park tying the score 5-5. The Rockies lost, but it was an edge of your seat game with the score constantly close. I love these kinds of games, because they are so fun to watch.

New player Dexter Fowler was quite impressive and I’ll be keeping my eye on him through the 2009 season. Clint Barmes will be interesting to watch, too, since he seems to be one hell of a hitter. I can’t wait to do more reviews for EventChaser and attend many, many more Rockies games!!

There are two things I love: Blogging and going to events. Plus, getting into these events for FREE, what a BONUS!! If you are a Blogger, Event Chaser, a subsidary of Razor Gator, can hook you up with FREE tickets to go see The Rockies or The Broncos or maybe you want to see Def Leppard in concert or see Bill Cosby’s standup show, Event Chaser can get you FREE or deeply discounted tickets to these events. All you have to do is attend the event, take some pictures then write a Blog about your experience. Simple, right? And the plus, you get to watch your favorite players in action as your Blog gets some very valuable advertising!!!
